CLASS HISTCRY ln August, 1962, J.H.S. 'lwelcomed twenty-seven members of the class of sixty-six. To start our four-year stay off right we elected our first class officers: Carol Feldt, President, Tom Phillipps, Vice President, Kay Gempeler, Secretary, and Dennis Wirth, Treasurer. Peggy Wyss and Dennis Zimmerman were onthe Student Council. The faculty included: Mr. Blum, principal, Mrs. McGinnis, commercial, Mr. Caldwell, assistant coach and history, Miss Hahn, lreplaced by Mrs. Williams, second semesterl, English, Mr. Wittlief, science and math, Mrs. Lehnherr, home economics, Mr. Taylor, agriculture, Mr. Uetz, coach and science, and Miss Marti, music. Kay Gempeler and Norma Hummer represented the class on the B-Team cheerleading squad. Yvonne Zimmerman ioined the class second semester. The class picnic was held at the Big Hill in Beloit, and our chaperones were Mrs. McGinnis and Mr. Caldwell. They were also our class advisors. Our Sophomore year began with twenty-two members. . We had two new teachers: Mr. Murphy, science, physical education, and coach, and Mrs. Adamson, English. Once again, class officers were chosen: Tom Phillipps, President, Norma Hummer, Vice President, Sharon Thorp, Secretary, Elaine Keen, Treasurer, and Woody Keener and Sherri Leopold, Student Council Representatives. Norma Hummer and Kay Gempeler were again elected to the B-Team cheerleading squad. Dave Beutel, Perry Whitaker, and Jean Rasmussen became new members of our class. This Sophomore year brought about initiating the Freshman, ordering our class rings, and our class picnic at Krepe Park with Mr. Caldwell and Mrs. McGinnis as our class advisors. The next year we accepted the position of Juniors. All twenty-five of us were starting our last half of high school. A new group in the faculty was noted: Mr. Kalk, principal, Miss Doran, English and Latin, and Mr. Buerger, science, English, and assistant coach. Electing officers was our first course of events. They were: Norma Hummer, President, Dennis Wirth, Vice President, Yvonne Zimmerman, Secretary, and Carol Feldt, Treasurer. Sharon Thorpe and Tom Phillipps were on the Student Council. The fall of the year was exciting with the arrival of our class rings and our Junior Class play, Nuts in May on Friday, November 13, 1964. Somewhere Over the Rainbow was the theme of our Junior Prom held on May 7, 1965. Reigning as king and queen were Dennis Wirth and Carol Feldt, On the court were Woody Keener, Peggy Wyss, Dennis Zimmerman, Sharon Thorp, Tom Phillipps, Yvonne Zimmerman, Greg Williams, and Kay Gempeler. Prince and princess were Gary Keen and Bambi Haas. For our last class picnic we went to the Chevrolet plant and Riverside Park in Janesville. Mr. Caldwell and Mrs. McGinnis were our Junior class advisors. Hail the Senior Class! All twenty-two class members saw the beginning of their last year at J.H.S. More new teachers appeared in the faculty this year. They were: Mr. Lueck, coach and history, Mr. Bernhagen, science, Miss Smith, physical education, health and history, and Mrs. Altman, librarian, general math, and English. Our class advisors were Miss Smith, Mr. Lueck, and Mr. Kalk. Our final class officers were: Tom Phillipps, President, Yvonne Zimmerman, Vice President, Sharon Thorpe, Secretary, Jennifer Fields, Treasurer, and Elaine Keen and Greg Williams, were elected as Student Council Representatives. Kay Gempeler represented us on the A-Team cheerleading squad. On April 1, 1966, the Senior Class play was given. Baccalaureate was held on May 22, 1966. Graduation was held on May 28, 1966.
