Enhancement Project Snccessfnl The three year Salmon Enhancement Prograrn has proved successful. A salmon hatchery has been constructed and maintained in Juanita 's oufn back- yard. Advised by Mr. Gib Moore, the Ma- rine Biology class watch over and take care ofthe life and survival of several hundreds fy' thousands rye salmon. Because ry' the amount of buildings being constructed in the Juanita Creek area, damage is visible to our wildlife. Erosion from upstream, and sewage from every house in the area has been the immediate cause. The Enhancement Program has re- ceived help from Government agencies, including King County Resource Plan- ning, and Metro. The prtgect is known statewide, being thejirst ty' itls kind at a High School. The class is rewarding as well, every- body works together and each person has a task they must complete each week. Russ Ladley, Patty Heidel, Karl Hartquist, David Lutz, and Robert Stewart have all enjoyed the project with at least one year of experience apiece.
