CLASS PROPHECY Entering the tent of Ohow Nutzey, the magician, we are told the visions the mystic ball holds of members of the class of '37 in 1947. V A The first scene is that of a schoolroom. There are about twenty bookkeeping students working fran- tically to make their Trial Balance balance. seated behind the desk and working, also frantically, to get some economic papers graded is our Miss Eileen Olson who wishes she had taken up housekeeping aft- er all! The next scene is that of the stock exhibit at the State Fair in 1947. we see a beautiful Hereford steer being given a bath and a permanent wave by a little girl in dirty overalls---Betty Marie Kiddoo. We wonder if she learned this art of beauty culture at Knox. We now see an art museum where we find Russell Crawford just finishing the statue of a species of the human race 2,000 years from now. Russell has certainly become far-sighted since he was in school. Now we are taken far across the seas to Naples, Italy, where Miss Marna Jayne Holmes is studying piano under the direction of Leapover Mouskowski, the famed Italian instructor. After a few years of study she expects to return to the Uhited States and join the Metropolitan Opera Company of New York City or go on the radioiif she can find a sponsonl, or she may even resort to Major Bowes. Who knows? Next we see a lonely street in a large city. Walking along with his mouth screwed up trying to whistle, our Nlittle but mightyn cop, Don Walker, whirls his club around and advances toward a car parked in front of a fire plug. The occupants are one or more of the present seniors, but we'll let you guess who. The next scene takes us to a very cold region in Alaska where the Eskimos live. Inside an igloo sits Verla Holmes knitting her fastest.We are given to understand that she is knitting sweaters and pants for polar bears which are marooned on ice bergs. The next vision takes us way down to South Africa where we find Martha May Seiver selling jewelry to the natives. Martha has become quite rich because of the huge profit she makes on her cheap jewelry, which, of course, the natives think is magnificient, Well, that's one way to make money, Martha.

Was the next thing on the list. Remember working in the basement When bookkeeping class we missed? Also the Senior Class flowers For which we couldn't pay, And we owed Mr. Ingalsbe Until after the Senior Play? From one thing to another, We hardly had time to breathe, But we were all very sorry Our junior year to leave. And last--Our Senior Year! To tell all would take a day, So to point out a few major points, We'll begin with the Senior Play. WA Full Housen was given Under the direction of Vesta Keach, Who almost became gray-haired, Directing and trying to teach. The classes' reputation became WDoing nothing day after day, Of kihling time and gazing around Just to pass the time away.n Some said we ran around too much, Going some place night after night, And coming droopily to school the next day, We'd invariably get in a fight. Well, we soon get over it, When at ourselves we decided to look, So we snapped out of our drowsy spell, And started to publish a book! The 1956 WJoysterW was the result of Our efforts and time. With thanks to Miss Keach and Mr. Ingalsbe, The book came out just fine. The next important things Showed us what High School had meant. The Junior-Senior Banquet, Baccalaureate, And last--Commencement. And so those years leave memories We will carry all our lives, Thoughts of happy school days, Always to cherish and prize.

Upon entering we see a demure little nurse--Letha Morse---swiftly gliding about helping the doctor diagnose a case of small pox which some elephants have contracted. Anyway, it's a gig job, Letha. Nex we see a ship far off somewhere on the Pacific Ocean. As it comes nearer we see a tall, dark, and handsome fellow scrubbing decks with the rest of the dubs. It could be Bob Gates ---- well, it is. He expects to be a Captain someday, but right now-look! We've reached one of the Hawaiian Islands. What'does that big sign over there say? WMade-Rites-lOd.W And the proprietor is none other than Forrest Elene MeKown. Well, I still like mine with onion, Mickey! The next scene is that of the make-up depart- ment of Twentieth--Century Fox Studios in Holly- wood, California. Shirley Temple,who is now making WSweet Sixteenn is being made up by Miss Pauline Walgren. Well, Polly, you made Hollywood, but not as an actress! Next we see awlarge mountain. Standing at the highest point is Harold llarroun. He is pointing to a.holelsix,feet in diameter, which he thinks goes to China. Oh Well! he'll learn, if he lives long enough. The next scene is that of a five and ten cent store. Behind a long counter we find Lucille Lingafelter, who seems to be gliding about very smoothly. Later we find that she is standing on a little car which runs on a track, and by pressing a button with her foot, she can move wherever she pleases. That saves the wear and tear on shoe leather. Now we are at a large circus. The announcer is introducing the most famous trapeze performer of the world ---- Miss Louise Robison ----- who will do a daring act 50 feet in mid-air without a net below. Well, Louise is certainly still sure of herself! The last scene takes place in a large library where Earl McDaniel is receiving awards for his novel,'WTo Marry and Still Love.N We never thought Earl's ardent love of literature and composing a- bility would lead to this! A Happy Future for Class of '57!
