COMMANDING OFFICER CAPTAIN R.S. MCCARTNEY UNITED STATED NAVY Captain R.S. McCartney was born in Honolulu. Hawaii and raised in Whittier. California. He atlended Whittier High School and Stanford University under the NROTC Program receiving his commission as Ensign. USN in June I960. Following graduation he was assigned as Operations Officer. USS Prime (MSO 466). In May 1963. he reported to USS New (DD 818) as Weapons Officer and subsequently served as Operations Officer. In July 1965 he reported to the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School and in June 1966 received an MS degree in Management. From July 1966 until December 1968 he was assigned to the Fleet Computer Programming Center. Pacific as Management Control Officer This was followed by a tour at the Headquarters. U.S. Military Advisory Group. Vietnam. In February 1970 he reported to USS Robison (DDG 12) as Executive Officer. From August 1971 until June 1972 he attended the Naval War College as a student in the College of Naval Command and Staff and in September 1972 assumed command of USS Mitscher (DDG 35). In May 1974 he reported to the Informations Systems Divison. (OP 91) Office of the Chief of Naval Operations and in 1976 moved to the AAW Branch. Surface Combat Systems Division (OP 35). In June 1977 he reported to the staff Commander Cruiser Destroyer Group ONE for duty as Surface Operations Officer. In February 1979 he returned to the Pentagon as Head. Navy Command and Control System Branch (OP 942F). Captain McCartney is married to the former Barbara C Calderon of San Diego. California and they have five children.

COMMANDER WILLIAM W. COBB, Jr. LIEUTENANT COMMANDER LAWRENCE HEYWORTH EXECUTIVE OFFICERS CDR Cobb was born in Sedalla. Missouri in a navy family and graduated from George Washington High School in Alexandria. Vir ginia. After enlisted service in USS Robert Keller (DD 219). he attend- ed the United States Naval Academy graduating in 1966 with a Bache- lor of Science Degree. After graduation, he served as Electronics an d Communications Officer in USS Fletcher (DD 945). In July 1969. he reported to USS Milwaukee ( AOR 2) serving as CIC and Operations Officer. In 1970 he attended Destroyer School in Newport. Rhode Island. Following De- stroyer School he served as Weapons and acting Executive Officer in USS Carpenter (DD 825) until 1973. From 1973 until 1975 he attended the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey. California receiving a Master of Science degree in Operations Research and System Analysis. He then served in the Office of the Chief of Naval Oper- ations until May 1979. He next served in USS Fox (CG 33) as Weapons Officer from September 1979 until 1981. Following attendance at the prospective Executive Officer ' s course in Newport, he reported to USS Jouett (CG 29) for duty as Executive Officer in September 1981. serving until March 1973. CDR Cobb is married to the former Karen Ruth King of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and they have two children. LCDR Heyworth was born in Annapolis, Maryland and graduated from St. James High School in Hagerstown. Maryland In 1966. After graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy m 1970, he reported to USS Davidson (FF 1045) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii as the CIC and Electronics Material Officer. LCDR Heyworth attended the Naval Destroyer School in 1973 and was subsequently posted to USS Koelsch (FF 1049) homeported in Mayport, Florida as Weapons Officer. In December 1975 LCDR Heyworth was split-toured to the San Diego based USS Cayuga (EST 1186) where he served as Chief Engineer until August 1979. After a tour at the U.S. Naval Academy where he was assigned duties as a company officer, then as the Executive Assistant to the Commandant of Midshipmen, LCDR Heyworth was attached to the Staff of Commander, Cruiser Destroyer Group THREE where he was the Flag Secretary. Following his detachment from staff duties in December 1982, he attended the prospective Executive Officer ' s course in Newport. Rhode Island. He then reported aboard USS Jouett (CG 29) and assumed duties as Executive Officer. LCDR Heyworth is married to the former Marijo Oliver of San Diego. California.
