Clarke Chisum, United States Navy, was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Naval Reserve from Officer Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island in February 1952. He studied at the United States Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, Ordanance Engineering Curriculum, graduating with a Master of Science Degree. He has also attended the Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Virginia, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Defense College in Rome, Italy. A Captain Chisum's initial shipboard assignments were in the Engineering and Gunnery Departments of the west coast destroyer escorts GEORGE and CURRIER and in the Operations Department in the cruiser LOS ANGELES where he augmented into the Regular Navy. He has served as Executive Officer USS BARNEY CDDG-65 and as Weapons Officer USS FORRESTAL CCVA-595. Captain Chisum has commanded BARNEY and USS JOHN KING QDDG-35. In other assignments, Captain Chisum has served on the Staff Cruiser Division One, in the Bureau of Naval Weapons, in the office of the Chief of Naval Operations, and on the staff Manager Anti-Submarine Warfare Special Project Office. Captain Chisum took command of JOSEPHUS DANIELS on 13 December 1975 after serving as4Director, Naval Armaments Directorate on the Staff, United States Ambassador to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Captain Chisum is currently serving as Commander Surface Warfare Development Group, Naval Amphibious Base, Little Greek, Norfolk, Virginia. Captain Chisum, whose home is San Francisco, California, is married to the former Caroline York of Baltimore, Maryland. They live with their daughter and three sons in Norfolk, Virginia.

C PT I R. R. ROBERT O JR Captain Robert R. Robertson Jr., a native of Houston, Texas, received his appointment as Ensign, United States Navy, upon graduation from the United States Naval Academy in 1954. He studied at the United States Navy Postgraduate School, the Naval War College, Harvard Business School, and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. His first assignment was to USS H. J . ELLISON CDD-8641, where he served as Gunnery Officer and ASW Officer. In June 1957 he traveled to Balboa, C.Z., where he assumed command of USS JASPER CPC-4865. Following that tour Captain Robertson returned to the United States Naval Academy as a Company Officer. Captain Robertson subsequently served as Executive Officer, USS COURTNEY CDE-10215 and USS BARNEY CDDG-65 and Commanding Officer of USS MITSCHER QDDG-355. Staff assignments have included Commander, U. S. Second Fleet and Chief of Naval Operations. Captain Robertson is married to the former Anne AV. Capps of Norfolk, Virginia, and they have nine children. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with Gold Star, Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V , Joint Services Commendation Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon. Captain Robertson reported to the JOSEPHUS DANIELS after completing a tour as OperationsfPlans Officer, Staff, Commander CruiserfDestroyer Group Eight. '
