' bectember L+, 19146 It seems a long tlme ago that the Class of 1950 started its years at Josephlnum High It was then that we started on that four year sea voyage We started on that four year sea voyage as cabln hands, now, we are graduatlng as cap- talns, fearless and dauntless, ready to face any dlfflculty w1th dauntless courage As the nonths went OU1CKly by, we grad ually adjusted ourselves or nweren adqusted to the new GXUBPIBHCSS of hlgh school life We looked up to the nwoeccable Senlors thought that we could never reach that coveted goal of Senlor But we passed through the freshman year and met other troubles on our sea voyage We went through that HGa Gan stage, the stage where we looked for a male's face at every posslble opportunity We had sea S1CKH6SS, when we had to struggle through Latin II But just as lt does sallors good to eat bitter lemons to combat sea S1CKH6SS, so we grlt our teeth and went through the hard thlngs wlth the thought of how much good lt was dolng us Neeks and months flew by we grew older, not only 1n urlty As the last months omore year passed, we were llke hours an age but in mat of our soph proud that ln a few months we were to be the Uuoperclassmen N Days of smooth salling and clear weather were lntermlngled w1th ocean storms durlng 1 . CLASS PROPHECY Settlng World's Fair of 1958 Event Commemoration of the 125th anniversary of our fair and noble metropolis, Chicago The exhlbitions here presented cover every phase of both American and foreign culture While walking down the way, surprlsingly enough, we see a number of familar faces At the booth sponsored by Marshall Field and Co , ALICE GONKO, chief importer of antique glass ware, is preparing her display Talking to her we find that GLORIA ALITTO has the stars Two more of our former classmates, LORRAINE KENDZIOR in partnership with BERNADIN KSIAZEK, are the principal stockholders of Wieboldt Stores, Inc The exhibitions of the American Medical Association was represented by the four outstanding nurses of the year, ANN DUGO, VIOLA SKROBICKI, CATHERINE FISCHER, and MARJORIE ZWATSCHKA we have just come from the livestock show, where GENEVIEVE SZAJNECKI and her blue ribbon bull 'Farley' have walked away with all the honors Special mention was given to BERNADETTE SPECHT for growing the largest'carrots' in the United States Stopping along the way for some needed refreshments, we see DOLORES OSTROWSKI and PATRICIA WI TERS, who, from all appearances, between the two of them have taken the book 'Cheaper by the Dozen' seriously Passing through the travel exposition, we see that GISELE DUPIN, who through her harrowing experiences in Chicago, has reorganized the PTAfPar1s Transportation Authorityl The BkO's chief engineer, regardless of seniority, is MARILOU LALONGE Nearby, we see MARY PEDERSEN putting along in her 'Stanley' steamer This is a snail's pace compared to the jet propelled space ship piloted by ELAINE KELLEHER, with MARTHA SCHMIDT as head stewardess The tennis championship is at stake in the sports arena 'Marvelous' MARGIE STROHH and 'Daring' DOROTHY SURRATT are battling the contenders of Australia for the world tennis crown It offered us many additional thrills to see MAR! ELLEN MCGRATH as star of the Ice Capades The Chicago Cubs have won the world series of '56 and '57 due to the splen did pitching of OLIVIA ESPOSITO, and the gigantic encourag ment of Andy Pafko's personal bat girl, DOIORES MASTEY On e finally realised her life's ambition--sweeping cinders off the home front, however, special mention should be given to ELAINE SCHULTZ as the inventor of the sunless bleacher seats in Wrigley Field The lake front provided an excellent op pcrtunity for MARY LOU SINCLAIR to demonstrate her swimmlng ability The baby sitting service of the Fair is conducted by BETTY ANN SESKO, who The American BETH HOLTHAUS, pequeno ninos offers cut rates to former classmates Teachers Association is represented by ELIZA who has devoted her life to instructing the ELAINE KURPIEWSKI has recently been ap pointed as head librarian of the Library of Congress.
