'lfiffanv Trawick, Danny Wyatt, and strike a stylish pose. represents the general interest in jeans, new hairstyles, and innovative Holland Sand Peters, Esteban Baez, Paul Mooneyham, Damion i--Q...,i-- Dunlap, Kathy Morris, Wayne McElhaney, and jason Ward are definitely li' steppin' out in style! as H a., .,, . The school year just wouldnit be the same if we j didn't have the colors that people were wearing, as i well as the right hairstyles. This year, volume perms were in for the girls, with longer hair becom- ing more popular. A softer, fuller look created styles such as the bob, the stacked bob, and modi- fied wedges. For the guys, the length was short, to achieve flat tops and spikes, perming and high- lighting were also the norm. Colors in clothes cen- tered around blue, red, pink, black, and grey. Spuds Mackenzie was a popular t-shirt item, and stone- washed denim was a hit. Also, the girls enjoyed softer styles, with more lace. 4

Soaring Red jackets have soared in many ways since the school's inception. 1938 marked the first graduating class of j.V.H.S., a school which was the first of its kind established in the United States as part of the public school system. From its infancy, when it pioneered new education, jor- dan has sought to train young men and women to succeed, whether they choose vocational skills or college degrees. jordan has grown in size through the years, both in student population and build- I ings. It has added courses and innovations, soaring mightily in both vocational and academic areas. Soaring is our spirit, our pride . . . fighting to excel. . . reaching to achieve. . . andjordan gradu- ates can fly high in their careers with excellent school backgrounds to help and to motivate. 1988 marks the fiftieth graduating class to leave jordan. With pride and a soaring spirit, the year- book staff wishes to dedicate this yearbook to the graduates of the Class of 1938. School Colors: Carmen and Grey School Emblem: The Red jacket U School Letter: School Motto: For God, For Country, For jordan Athletic Motto: I am ready. Former alumni fincluding representatives from the original Industrial High Schoolj were honored at a reception and program in the spring of 1987. From 1937 until the present,jordan students have endured the ninety-degree temperatures in the classrooms. The city of Columbus soared this year by voting to Cool Our Kids ! 3
