Numerous are the frustrations of those whose responsibility it is to aid the learning process of future citizens. Perhaps this task of our instructors is not the most glamorous or even the most outwardly re- warding, but let them take comfort in this thought: throughout future years, many will be the times their former students will take a cherished glimpse back with this afterthought- l couldn't have made it without them. Through our organizations, we students have a chance to express ourselves and listen to others and their contrasting ideas. lt is this opportunity for self improvement that acts as the icing on the cake , extending beyond the reading, writing, and arithmetic of day to day school procedure. We are proud of the progress made by our clubs, a wonderful combination of fellowship and different learning processes that will mean much to the students, now and in future years. JUDY DIANE EVANS 89 The four classes of high school offer as classic example of development as can be assembled. The freshman year brings with it added responsibilities, but, more important, extra freedom and association with the big kids of high school. Clumsiness seems to be inherent in fre sh m e n, but it is just one of those painfully wonderful processes to be indured. Sophomore-itis strikes full force with that wonde rful felling of we own this place. There is also the advantage of no longer being the youngest members of the student body. Sophomores find themselves with more influence in the affairs of their school. As juniors, there is a very acute awareness of things to come. The responsibility of choosing a college looms ominously before those education minded students. Juniors feel at ease in their dealings with school affairs and have only the seniors to consider as upper classmen. The dignified, stately seniors, chewing bubble gum as they write their term papers, are looked to as examples by their fellow classmates. Along with their relation and pride at attaining this cherished position, there is a traditional wisp of sad- ness as they turn one last time to look' at their four memorable years at Jordan-Matthews.
