Although the team skidded into a few defeats, the games were very valuable to these boys. Hard work and determination will develop these boys into a fine varsity team. All the boys proved their ability and exhibited their many good points during the yea r. The season progressed, and the ' blue and white ' came home with the victories, leaving defeat ringing in the ears of their opponents. The conference being juggled this year, the Phantoms were confronted with new faces and new abilities, but only to the despair of the new Central Tarheel teams. The Phantomaire is its sole project, and proceeds are used for school improve- ment. Last year the club presented new encyclopedias and over a hundred books to the library. Members attend the annual state convention which has become the largest convention of its type in the United States. Phantomaire Staff HAL PHILLIPS, Photography Editor; MIKE RENN, Sports Editor; MARY VIRGINIA EARLE, Editor-in-Chief. Staff members VIVIAN PASCHAL, Assistant Editor; BEVERLY SPRINKLE, Art Editor; and CINDY GRIFFITH, Assistant Sports Editor, arrange students for a group picture for the annual. Hours of work, a good deal of imagination, and many sleepless nights help make the Phantomaire a reality. Planning begins almost as soon as the current annuals reach the students and it never ends until the deadline day finally arrives. Missing pictures, im- possible copy, endless corrections, and limitless typing become a recurring nightmare as the deadline draws closer and closer. What seems an impossibility finally materializes, and each member of the staff can onlyhope that the students will be well satisfied.
