DR. CHARLES M. JORDAN The man from whom Jordan junior High School gets its name is Charles M. Jordan, a kind, scholarly, friendly gentleman. who was Superintendent of the Minneapolis Public Schools from 1892 to 1914. Dr. Jordan was born in Bangor, Maine, in 1851. He came tn Minneapolis in 1883 and was principal of sweral schools before becoming superintendent. He served as superintendent for twcnty-two years, and then, as Superintendent Emeritus, he lived to see six other superintendents follow him. He was a frcquvnt visitor to jordan, which was built in 19:22 and named for him. Faculty and students all knew him and greeted him cordially as he went from classroom to classroom, as was his usual custom. In later years Dr. Jordan lived with his daughter and two grandsons in Birmingham, Alabama. He died there in 1935 at the age of 84. Jordan is proud to honor him on this, the thirtieth anniversary of his death.
