They were men who had the courage of their convictions. All of these courageous men were basically adventurous; they adapted themselves to strange surroundings; they planned skillfully and specifi- cally for emergency action; they were all completely self-reliant, and they knew how to get along with people. We, in education, are trying in many ways to develop our young men and women to take their place in this space age of ours. We encourage you to have vision to see things as they really are. We try to stimulate an imagination to dream of things that may be. We hope to instill a courage to act boldly and make those dreams come true. The days ahead will demand more depth of citizenship, a new dedi- cation to the three Rls of citizenshiperights, respect, and responsibility. The entire staff at Jordan Junior High School wishes you the best of luck and may you have good propulsion in the space age ahead. MERVIN C. DILLNER Principal EDWARD R. J ORDAN INS; up Q JORDAN JUNIOB HIGH ' JUNE 8,1964 FINISHING EIERCISES,LAST NINTH GRADE EVENT Jordan in its saddest hour will say good-by to the most brilliant and personable ninth grade class ever to pass through its halls on Thursday morning, June 11. The program will consist of talks and presentation of awards by.Mr. Dillner, principal, and the class officers: Charlene Novek, John Rydeen, Douglas Perry, and Scott weiss; music will be furnished by the band directed by Mr. Alm and the ninth grade choir by mr. Dick. Chairman of the exercises is Mrs. Jones. PROJECTION 'Bh Live from Europe, this is your on-the-spot reporter, Barry St. mane, coming to you from the Lichtenstein Wbrld's Fair, 198h. we have here a magnificent assembly of unique minds, wealth, and achievements, supporting the theme of Our Capitalistic Superiority. Here we find some of the most notable individuals of our time. I have with me Mr. Charles Williams, author of Who's Who in Our RegeneratingySociety. Sir, would you care to comment on the unusual influx of visitors to the Fair? Thank you, Barry. Today, my staff and I uncovered an astounding fact. Of all the visitors to the Fair, a vast majority of the most successful, including Berry and myself, attended the same junior high school. For instance, in the field of science, Mary Stiras and Linda Proulx have developed a new breed of horses; Charles Meyers in his home conser- vatory succeeded in growing a human bean; Susan Menge won the Nobel Prize for Physics and owes her success to her ninth grade science teacher who inspired her by declaring 'Weter is a very smooth surface when it's not rough3' Marie Stevens has a portion of the Science Pavilion dedicated to her amazing strides in dietary weight control. In business, too, we find many of our alumni: Cris Jondall, Ken Bulie, anH Cathy Cline have been appointed to a committee to pay back the national debt; Bob Nelson has become the top hairstylist for the fashionable Carrie salon, tit seems he always had a fondness for hairl; Shirlelerown has now realized her ambition and become an auction- eer; Sue Nordby and.Mary Jane Symanitz are now the well known fashion designers for Mad Magazine. Equally a success in business is Pat Arbogast, managing editer for Vogge.-- Do you think she'll ever tell us if blondes really have more fun? In sports, we have Dave Fennern, former decatholon.champion, now star outfielder for the Yankees and guard for the Boston Celtics whose coach was recently replaced by one with more potential, Micheal Bates. At diplomatic balls at the United Nations, arriving guests are announced by Marilyn Martins. Attending a recent ball was Nancy Hamann, now wealthy senora of a coffee plantation in Nicaragua. Gary Benson has become prominent on the national scene as the governor of our new state, Cuba. Rudolfo d'Arbelles has been quite successful as a visiting English professor at Oxford University. Back in Minneapolis, Bandy Tucker and Ron Sjoberg have become members of the stage crew at the Guthrie Theater, showing the same amazing precision that made them famous at Jordan. And at the Kinney shoe factory, Bill Bogucki drills the holes into all the wingtips. I now pay tribute to Steve Phifer, our own awe-inspiring philosopher. Long live his immortal-words 'Camels don't wear socks'. Now, back to Barry. Thank you for a most informative interview. And now, this is your favorite re- porter saying 'Good night' from the world's Fair.
