and Cplayed Under the tutelage of Messrs. Paasch and Rodeghicr, Jordan boys opened the 1958-1959 sports year with touch football teams fighting for grade championships. Room 121, and 22 won. Bruce Henderson was badminton champ. Activities during the winter included apparatus work and swimming. In basketball the boys divided into odds and evens, each putting its teams into the league. Winners were the Ninth Grade Rams, the Eighth Grade Bullheads and the Seventh Grade Orioles. The teachers outplayed the 9A boys, 45:38, in the annual classic. A short volleyball season preceded softball, horseshoe and tether ball; softball leagues played off in championship rounds. Jordan girls guided by Mrs. Katzung and Miss Robin followed a varied program of sports and gymnastics. Bad- minton champ was J oanne Saporito. Volleyball followed with rooms 206, 205 and 229 taking top honors. Folk dancing, swimming, softball and apparatus work preceded Play Day at the University of Minnesota and a second Play Day at Northeast Junior High. Youth Fitness tests, prescribed by the Federal Government, were used for the hrst time at Jordan this year. Needless to say the two gymnasiums are popular places five days a week as well as during after school hours.
