I960 The high- school gang just hated Dan, the boy- wonder. They'd heard about his high I.Q. and they despised his Smart-Me! Dumb- You! attitude. But they had to turn to him when Puff, the hope of the school, was disqualified from all ath- letic events. Dan is elected to tutor Puff, but he has problems of his own. He offers to coach Puff if all the gang will rally round him long enough to satisfy his parents, who are unwilling to send him to college as long as he's so unpopular in high school. Dan goes to work with his hypnotic suggestion invention and turns Puff into an above- average student. Hilarious and compli- cated developments arise as a soap- manufacturer gets interested in the hypnotic box; Puff loses all athletic interests; Dan finds Linda more inter- esting than college; and Linda teaches the inexperienced Dan just how to say goodnight after a date.
