CLASS HISTORY Long, long ago on September 9, 1955 nine young escapees from the eighth grade managed to sneak into the freshman class. This was a big day for us— Gary Freeman, Cheryl Zentzis, Teddy McFadden, Julie Smith, Carl White, Darla Cady, Terry Mangold, Joyce Smith and Bill Cady. Bill was a graduate of the Packer School, and a new member of the class. A tragic death darkened the lives of the freshmen on November 8, 1955 when Terry Mangold passed away. Despite the dire beginning, we managed to survive. We made a few changes here and there, where we felt our judgment superior to the judgment of others, and at last we had Inver- ness High School at our feet. Our class strived to take part in school activities-band, chorus, basketball and others. We usually found the names of our classmates at the top of some kind of list. We had a little trouble with school work and assignments, but after a time we convinced the teachers that we were very valuable to the welfare of the entire school. After all, without us, who would there be to think up enough mischief for everyone? Charlotte Zimbleman joined the junior class in 1957, giving us a total of four boys and five girls. So, in 1959 we find ourselves at the end of our school career; some of the old faces having been replaced by new ones, with five of us — Gary Freeman, Teddy McFadden, Carl White, Darla Cady and Cheryl Zentzis — having gone here all twelve years. When we look back on our school days, we find lots of pleasant memories and a few unpleasant ones, with plenty of unusual happenings on the way. We leave the past and enter the future with few worries. However, we are concerned about the future of Inverness High School — who ' s going to manufac- ture paper airplanes, spit wads, annoy the teachers, and do the many other things we have managed for twelve years? We must leave school though, so we ' re leaving our job to the rest of the classes. May they do as well as we, the Class of 59 , have.
