Memories-a, tangible symbol of the past. There have been many-and yes, a few unhappy moments. Memories are precious. They can never be purchased, their value lies within. We must remember the personal attitudes and the specific rather than the generalized. May your hearts be lighter and your lives happier for the wonderful times-of the memories that will come to you and me. Out from under the galloping of Time, we have caught your illusive dreams and future memories as they rush across the threshold of the present. Many people in all walks of life claim Joplin High, 801 Pearl, as their Alma Mater. Each remembers with pride his high school experiences. Each feels the school song 'cDear Old Joplin belongs partly to him, and whenever the song is heard whether in the school or on the football field memories of the old school call up his happiest of days. So-to all who saw in Joplin High a promise of a great school, that was destined to send out teachers and follow- ers of a better way of life-those who have seen the needs of a larger school, those who have remained loyal to her through adversities and success, War and peace, depression and prosperity, and to those who devotedly gave their lives that we today might have the opportunities to learn, to better ourselves for the world-WE DEDICATE THIS 1958 JOPLIMO. ,WWW

Foreword lt's been quite a year, hasn7t it? Much has happened to us-a steady grind of classes-a crowded schedule of meetings, plays, campaigns, elections, and ball games. While we are taking inventory of the past year, let's don't leave out those things a yearbook canit record. The sadness and pathos of leaving our beloved school, yet happy in entering a new one that will give us more room, more concerts, a whirl of parties and dances. No need to be dismayed because we couldn't capture the intangibles. Only words and photographs can be summarized. Here is your yearbook-Memories of the past year-Some memories of Yesteryear-Memories ofthe wonderful times we have had here at our old school-Memories! Long hours have been spent trying to make it a memorial that you will treasure for the years ahead: We have tried to record football, the wonderful band, the clubs, the classes, the faculty, who have understood our problemsg the classmates, who have walked with us down these crowded hallsg the beautiful music given to us-in fact, we have done our best to catch all activities. The regional basketball tournament, Military Ball, Senior Class Play, Class Day-all seasonals will come to you in our Supplement.
