In a quiet, Winsome manner she had always a cheerful air. Peggy is more than a cold statistic of highway accidents. She is the memory of a sweet, smiling sixteen-year old who was nothing less than a regular Blue jay. i Ulm 7Lfi4If0'Llf At last we were in high school! What a thrill it was to be classified as freshmen After a month or so, we finally settled down to do our work. Then came the initiation! It was a scream for the other high school students to see us dressed as Mother Goosev characters. All harsh feelings and hurt prides were mended the night after initiation when the Seniors gave us a party. The sophomore year was relatively easy as compared to our freshman year. This year wasn't as exciting as the freshman year, but we still had our good times. Finally after two short years, we were upperclassmen, juniors. We had mid-terms and then settled down to work out a method to make enough money for our junior-Senior Prom. We finally got the necessary amount of money and made preparations for the coming Prom. The big night arrived and the boys, with scrubbed ears, and feeling intensely uncomfortable in a tie, knocked on their date's door. The boys with awkward feelings, surrendered their bouquets to their dates and escorted them to the school. Then came the final exams' and promotion from Juniors to Seniors. And now we are Seniors. We don't know what the future holds, but we can look back on our school life and have many warm memories. PERRY STOKES Historian An important decision is made as to the color of caps and gowns, but we donlt seem to worry about color, just so we have the assurance of getting to wear caps and gowns. 1 24 . . H. S. football team While win- ning the Yadkin Valley championship and advancing to the quarter finals of the state race before dropping a squeaker, 13-12 was considered the finest in school history. The Jays swept through the Yadkin Valley conference, unbeaten and untied. They displayed a double-barrel offense in scoring a total sum of 282 points while their equally as powerful defense held opponents to a meager 30. The only regular season loss came at the hands of a 2-A team. A number of records were broken and rewritten, teamwise and in- dividually.
