L .--.,...t:...-x. -vu nr-xx lvti CLASS l' As we the Seniors of i955 think of the short time until graduation, we are forced to glance back into the past and see the shadows we have cast during our high school career. First, we see ourselves a group of excited eighth graders seated on a Greyhound Bus traveling to Chapel Hill. There we viewed the College Campus, Kenan Stadium and the Planetarium. The same year our bays went all out for athletics and won the P.T.A. Tournament, which was held in the Elkin Gym. Then came the time for us to graduate into high school and we see ourselves as we received our diplomas. ln the fall of l95l we see ourselves as freshmen This year we found ourselves the subiects of initiation. After initiation day the seniors gave us a party for displaying such a good brand of sportsmanship. We closed out our first year in high school by giving the seniors a farewell party. Then shadows of aur sophomore year claim our at- tention. In that year our class placed five boys an the foot- ball team, one girl and one boy on the basketball team and four boys an the baseball team. ln the spring five members of our class were chosen to represent Janesville Hi in the State Music Festival, which was held in Greensboro. ln our iuniar year we cast the biggest shadow of our high school career. First, we learned that we were to be publishers of the Janesville Hi Bugle. Then came the Junior Play, Hobgoblin House, which was a big success. Four students were chosen to represent Janesville High School in the Grass Roots Opera. Two of these students HISTORY were members of our class. The highlight of our junior year was May 7, l954. On this night we gave the first Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom ever given at Jonesville High School. Our theme was, One Night ln Hawaii. The banquet was held in the school cafeteria and the prom in the school gym. Our senior year has started off as ioyful and successful as the past years. At the beginning of the year we initiated the freshmen. The theme was, The Circus. For a while it looked as though lions, bears, tigers, and monkeys were taking over the school. The freshmen were rewarded for their fine cooperation when the seniors gave them a party- square dance in the Jonesville Gym. We closed out our year of athletics by furnishing a ping-pong champion, cheerleaders, players on the basketball team, baseball team, and the football team. One member of the football team, a senior, mode the Yadkin Valley All- Conference team. The brightest light in the shadows of our senior year is our work on the BLUE JAY-to make it the best one yet. We are working very hard on the fifth edition. Then there is to be a Senior Play and a trip to Washington lwe hopel. The final shadow will fall as we are awarded our diplomas at the end of the school year. After a backward glance we realize that the past years have been the most colorful, enioyable, and most success- ful years of our lives thus far. JO ANN LEWIS Class Historian :si N '.
