Z '-'HID' '-'UFFJU We, the HURRICANE Staff, proudly dedicate the '56 HURRlCANE to Mrs. Paul T. Phillips. Her gay sense of humor, her untiring efforts, her thoroughness and sound iudgment . . . were our reasons for the dedication. For five years Mrs. Phillips has contributed her time and services to better the students of J.H.S. Many students have greatly profited from her English, Latin I, Journalism I and II, Kiski, and history courses. Time after time, she has cheerfully volunteered her home for student parties. Therefore, not only is she an excellent instructor, but also a true friend. Now may we present the 1956 HURRICANE to her . . . Jonesboro High's own Miss Gurney.

PRINCIPAIJS MESSAGE ' To the class of 1956: Elbert Hubbard once said, The object of teach- ing a student is to enable him to get along with- out his teacher, and as you complete your high school career most of you have grown in wis- dom and stature to the point where the job of your teacher is almost done. Most of you, of course, will continue to study in some college or university, but some of you will go directly into the community and take your place as producing members of society. No mat- ter where you go or what you do, the faculty of Jonesboro High School hopes that you will always look back on your years here with fond- ness and affection. Our best wishes go with you always. Sincerely, C. H. Gels, Principal Ffa me . W',5F??5 r -A .
