Counselors provide a listening ear and guiding hand Mrs. Ruth Marshall, who advises students and helps them with their future plans, holds an A. B. from Judson College and also has a Master ' s degree in Education and Guidance from the University of Alabama, Mrs. Barbara Triplett, who holds a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Alabama, is counselor for freshmen and sophomores. One of her hobbies is sketching in charcoal, and she hopes to find spare time in the future to paint in oils. Mrs. Helen Chandler, assistant registrar, is a graduate of Jones Valley. She enjoys sewing and is also very active in her church. Mrs. Maudene Driggers, head registrar, is responsible for the efficiency of the office staff. A graduate of Jones VaUey, Mrs. Driggers enjoys reading, knitting, and watch- ing television. 17

Administration provides helping hand for student A. E. Driggers, our principal, is a grad- uate of Birmingham-Southern from which he holds an A.B. degree. He also holds an M.A. from the University of Alabama. Mr. Driggers likes people - especially young people - and enjoys being with them . He is an avid sports fan and also enjoys playing dominos. As girl ' s adviser Mrs. Fay Donaldson keeps check on all the girls and helps them with their schedules and any problems that might arise. She is in charge of the monitors, spon- sors the Student Council, and also helps plan and carry through the Sportsmanship Program . Mr. P. A, Vandiver, boys ' adviser, al- though very busy checking on all the boys, making out schedules and keeping students in order, seems to find time to enjoy his hobbies of reading, cooking, and garden- ing. Mr. Vandiver holds an A.B. from Sam- ford University, an M.A. from Peabody and an M.A. in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Alabama.

♦ -d Weary seniors ask: Holding a B.S. degree from the Univer- sity of Alabama, Mrs. Mary Smith teaches sophomore and junior English. Mrs. Smith sponsors the F. T.A. and en- joys fishing and reading. Mrs. Doris Hixon holds a B.S. in educa- tion from the University of Alabama . She teaches junior and senior English and also sponsors a Y-Teen group. Mrs. Gloria Kelley teaches freshman and sophomore English. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. degree in education.
