The reception was being held to gain publicity for her latest books entitled The Mammoth Hunters. It is the third in a six part series entitled Earth 's Children, which deals with the possible life lead by the Neandrathal Man. As an author, Mrs. Auel has found success through her individualized form of writing. Most writers will try to make their fictional stories appealing by adding details that make the story come to life, although those details do not have to be factual. In Mrs. Auel's writings, she gives prominence to the facts she has researched, and uses the fiction to help present such facts in an appealing way. The reception held on December the 5th was sponsored by the Chicago Public Library. It was part of a pro- gram entitled Conversations with Chicago Authors , in which the pub- lic gets to engage in informal dia- logue with famous literature writers from Chicago. Representing Jones at the reception were Horace Hender- son, and Maria Nyholmg from the Public Relation Club, and Kelly Ma- lone, from the Writers Club. They presented Mrs. Auel with the out- standing Jonesite award, an award presented to former students of Jones for their contributions to the world after graduation. Mrs. Auel also received memoirs from her his- Q tory at Jones, including yearbooks l for'1953 and 1954, newspaper clips from the Jones Reporter, and a pho- tograph of her old residents where she lived while attending Jones. Jones is proud of Mrs. Auel, and wishes her continued success in the literary world. X -4 x .1 I lit liz 'Q li tl . ,,. S. fi U? 315 21 6557? It is the start of our new beginningsg And the end of the lives we have all grown use to. On this day we will reach one of our highest goals, And we'll be forced to leave some memories behind. We will shed some tears and laugh at things from the past. But when the day is over and we all go home, We'll awaken the next day ready to conquer the world. By: Lynn Plioplys ' 'GF , - 'Z XI. .
