060 i 525mm We dedicate the l95O IONESITE to Mr. Hobart H. Sommers, Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Charge of Vocational Education, to whom we are sincerely grateful for his ac- tive interest in lones Commercial High School and for the friendliness that he brings wher- ever he goes. He is a dynamic individual and goes about everything with an enormous amount of energy and will power. He has a keen comprehension of modern educational prob- lems, especially those which apply to voca- tional education. This man has great plans forthe future development of lones Commercial High School. This interest in our school has been demonstrated repeatedly by his many visits here. He attended our Eighth Annual Fash- ion Show, which was held at the Fair Store, where he officially opened our program. He has attended faculty meetings and teas at lones. Mr. Sommers was appointed to his new position in Ianuary, 1949. Previously, he served as the principal of Austin High School for ten years. ln addition to having charge of lones Commercial High School, he also super- vises Washburne Trade School, Chicago Vocational School, Manley Vocational School, Wescott Vocational School, Dunbar Trade School, and Richards Trade School.
