JUNIOR RED CROSS Among the many clubs at lones is the lunior Red Cross, a very active organization, under the capable direction of Mrs Gillen. Plans were made at the beginning of the Sepf tember-lanuary l949-i950 semester to make stuffed dolls and scrapbooks for the small children in the hospitals through- out the city. The girls and boys Worked together to complete these articles by Christmas. lt took quite a bit of Work, but when everything was finished we felt it was worth all the time and effort Because of our unity and our combined co-operation we are doing as much and even more than some of the larger schools. The only pay we receive for our efforts is the personal sat- isfaction that comes from being able to give aid to the others who are less fortunate than ourselves, The lunior Red Cross is an important branch of the regular Red Cross organization and the lonesites show that they real- ize this by their all-'round support. Every student at Iones is welcome to join this wonderful club. The officers of our Red Cross Club are: Donna Fisher, pres- identg lacaueline La Fave, vice presidentg llse Burkhardt, secre taryg and Zenia Bienkowski, treasurer, Seated: Alcala, Wosczynski. Kneeling: Betley, Wulf, I.aFc1ve. Standing: Rickert, Shinners, Grenz. Arkin, Bienkowskl. Petraifis, Henk, Fisher.

CPEN HOUSE Gay crowds milled through the school at our annual Open House, and the atmosphere was filled with the ever-present air of friendli- ness, which is always a must at Iones. As our parents and friends began their tour of the school, the center ot attraction was the sign that hangs below the clock in the first floor cor ridor, which we all know reads SMILE Many ol our parents were delighted with special programs during the personality divif sion period. They were also pleased to find lones a place where their children can discuss problems that bother them. do--qw--N X The Ionesites' Parents Begin Their Tour A Pause For Needed Refreshment An Assorted Class Is Most Attentive The Seniors Display A Skeleton Outside The Closet 028s
