RECEPTIONISTS Qualifications tor receptionists are very high. All girls who become receptionists must wear hats to school every day regardless ot weather, A receptionist must maintain a G average throughout the semester in which she is a member ot this club. She must be neat and prepared to be called on at c moments no-- tice to offer her services to the school. The right step towards being a member starts in the individuals lirst semester at Iones. At that time her qualifications are weighed. lt she is a bobby-soxer or a sweaterflover, the scale will dip in a downward direction, thus rating her low. On the other hand, if she is well groomed, has a business-like appearance at all times, and acquires the daily routine ot wearinct a hat, the scale will indzcate that here is a new receptionist. This 'iweighingu goes on tor an individuals 3B and 3A semester and the climax comes in her 4B semester, Some make the grade in their 4B semester, others in their 4A semester. The Receptionists' Club this semester, conf sists: ot 34 students ot the 4B and 4A classes combined. The officers of the club are: Kath- leen Barnas, president, Catherine Uccello, vice' president, Shirley Harrington, secretary, and lrma Dittmer, treasurer. The president and secretary are 4A students as has been the cus- tom ot this club tor many years. lt is an honor and a real achievement to become a member ot this club since only the 'best ot the lot are chosen. F , . f fm if ' i ,ffff lust who are the Owls? And why may member- ship in this club be classified as the highest honor one may attain at lones? Hear ye! Owls are students who have worked hard for the marks they have received, and in so doing, have be- come outstanding young people, well prepared for the business world they are soon to enter. The officers are as follows: Darlene Rodell, president, Patricia Wulf, vicevpresident, and Betty Lou Swanson, secretary- treasurer. The Owls had one very successful flower sale in mid-semester. The profits of this sale were divided in two ways: a part of it was used for a well deserved party, the rest was put into the Owls' fund to be used in the purchase of a glass display-case, Miss Doyle is their excellent sponsor. A beautiful gold-plated pin is given to each mem- ber to wear the entire semester showing that he or she has achieved the honor of membership. After being in the club two consecutive semesters, the pin is perma- nently awarded to the student.

G. A. A. Tlie first day at Iones introduces cz newcomer to the G.A.A. This organiza- tion sponsors the Big Sister party that the 4B's give the 3B's, All the 4B's are Big Sisters, and all 3B's are Little Sisters, This is Just one of the programs that the G.A.A. schedules. As are most of the activities at Tones, the G,A.A. activie ties are centered ground the building of strong personalities, as Well as strong bodies. Our active officers are: Esther Sum- erdon, president, Mary Ann Benda, vice- president, Donna Byan, secretary, and Elsie Grenz, treasurer. The Girls' Athletic Association spon- sors the Volley Ball Tournament which began in December, This year as be- fore, the G.A.A. members sent books and other gifts to the veterans at Hines and Vaughan General Hospitals Miss Gorman, Tones' Physical Edu-A cation instructor, is the sponsor of the G.A,A.
