Dr. Ted Wilkerson Superintendent B. S. Degree, M. S. Degree, and D. Ed. Degree OSU Many times we have related the basic functions of education as the three R s: Reading, Riting Rithmetic taught to the tune of the Hickory Stick . Little doubt can be raised concerning these basic educations concepts. They are our basic communication skills, and without communication we would be unable to transmit to other individuals and generations the knowledge and experience of others. Education must also consider another R, Relevancy. We must consider those aspects of learning that are relevant to our time and place. We certainly have to realize and recognize a commitment to our American social system, our American economic system, traditions and history. These are some of the ex- tremely important aspects of our educational system relevant to our time and place. We must assume that one of the purposes of education is to bring about an improvement in our existing society. We cannot change the past, only the fut- ture. We cannot live in the past, only in the present, with hopes for the future. That is what education is all about. The 1975 Yearbook indicates a year of actions, dreams, desires, victories, and defeats which we hope were relevant to your time and place. It will pre- serve for you some of the memories and traditions of the Jones School for the years ahead. You cannot return to them except in memory, but we sincerely hope they have provided you with a basis to achieve your chosen goals. Dr. Ted Wilkerson ADMINISTRATIVE IDEAS PROVIDE SUCCESS FOR J.H.S.
