Degree, M. S. Degree, and D. Ed. Degree OSU Many times we have related the basic functions of education as the three R s: Reading, Riting Rithmetic taught to the tune of the Hickory Stick . Little doubt can be raised concerning these basic educations concepts. They are our basic communication skills, and without communication we would be unable to transmit to other individuals and generations the knowledge and experience of others. Education must also consider another R, Relevancy. We must consider those aspects of learning that are relevant to our time and place. We certainly have to realize and recognize a commitment to our American social system, our American economic system, traditions and history. These are some of the ex- tremely important aspects of our educational system relevant to our time and place. We must assume that one of the purposes of education is to bring about an improvement in our existing society. We cannot change the past, only the fut- ture. We cannot live in the past, only in the present, with hopes for the future. That is what education is all about. The 1975 Yearbook indicates a year of actions, dreams, desires, victories, and defeats which we hope were relevant to your time and place. It will pre- serve for you some of the memories and traditions of the Jones School for the years ahead. You cannot return to them except in memory, but we sincerely hope they have provided you with a basis to achieve your chosen goals. Dr. Ted Wilkerson ADMINISTRATIVE IDEAS PROVIDE SUCCESS FOR J.H.S. POWER TO 75 Darrell Wise--Football 2, Track 2, VICA 2, Shop 2. What will it be like in ten years or nine? What will there be in your heart and mine? Will we always re- member our closest friend; the fun that we had, the places we’ve been? Or will we forget the jokes and die laughs? Will they slip by with the rest of the past? Will we forget, too, the hurt and the pain; the tears that we cried when we lost the game? Will we forget the anxiety of trying our best, then making a 'D' on our nine weeks test? Will we remember the mistakes each one of us made; the hate that we felt, the hate that we gave? We've hurt each other more than we'll pro- bably ever know; ew've cared for each other a lot, but at times it didn't show. What about the times some- one hurt our pride; and the time we diought our best friend lied? Let's remember die love and forget all the pain. Remember me, be- cause I'll remember you; tell me 'good-bye'. I'll say 'good-bye', too. But don't say forever, forever's too long. Someday we'll meet again, but for now, my friend, 'So long’. 17 Being Most Bashful, Debbie and Glen are hoping no one is in the hall. THE MOST . . . Remember: When we were over confident and got stung by Luther. When we fought Harrah to a 0 to 0 tie. Whipping McLoud on a wet and soggy field. The last five yards during the fourth quarter of the Davenport game. The sideline, social get-together at Blanchard. Remember: Homecoming and the crowning of the queen. Moving the ball up and down the field against Millwood. Our best effort against Bethany. Dropping a close one to Chandler. Winning runner-up to District by downing St. Marys. Memories, yes there are many. The glory of winning, the heart-break of crying and failing, but all important is the time we shared together as a group of young men trying their hardest to bring Glory to Jones High School. E. Allen To some people a successful season is winning State Championship. But here at Jones it was a group of young men try- ing to reach a goal. That in itself is an accomplishment for in this society today young people don't want to share their time in a team project. Working with young men is great and always will be great, with me. To a lot of people 3-6-1 isn't much but runner- up in District A-5 and having seven players to make All-District is. Now we have a starting place and we've only just be- gun. T. Denson The Pep Club girls worked very hard on these signs to show the boys their support. Drunk Again Huh!?! 42 We entered this new season with a strong determination and an op- timistic outlook. After two re- building years, the Longhorns are in a position to enjoy an out- standing season. Losing only two players through graduation, the ten returning lettermen give us a sound base to build on; and add to this excellent group of sophomores who excelled in junior high last year, and some new students. The 1974-1975 Longhorn edi- tion is the strongest in many years. It takes a lot of hard work, dedi- cation, and a good mental atti- tude. Without these qualities, es- pecially good mental attitude, team work, and strong fan support, our chances are reduced greatly. These young men believed that this could be the '’YEAR OF THE LONGHORN , --and it was! !!! B. Ware WORKIN’ Coaches Bob Ware and Doug Landess. The interest in women's sports in the U. S. is on the rise. Many colleges and universities are offer- ing competitive sports for women. Oklahoma has a new interest in girl's basketball. The larger 3A and 4A schools are starting basket- ball programs. Within the next 10 years girl's sports in Oklahoma will take its place as one of the main sports attractions. Here at Jones we are changing to a winning image. This year there were 23 girls out for basket- ball. Five of them attended sum- mer basketball camp at O. C. C. We had six seniors out this year, who have shown a lot of leadership and effort. Our goal for the future is to make Jones number one in girl's basketball. D. Landers HARD 43 TIME TO BE . . .
