Advisor-Norma Griffin FOREWORD When the fire of your life is an ember And the days of your youth have fled. You will never forget to remember As long as this book can be read. We have put here the wonderous story In writing, in pictures, and song All things that brought us glory, Events that went right and went wrong. Your schoolmates will live on these pages. Through whatever they have written or done; You will treasure their laughs and their rages In this book full of school day fun. The STAFF Administration Paves Way This is a beautiful book. It is well prepared and illustrated. It is indic- ative of your friends, your ventures and activities. Your yearbook will become more of a treasure with the passing of time. School is a place of learning. It encompasses not only “reading, ’riting and ’rithmetic,” but life and living. It has become increasingly evident that life is more complex in our expanding society. Schools of today offer more opportunities for group participation and interaction so vital in your future and the future of your country. The administration hopes that we can help provide you with these opportunities, intermingled with individual possibilities, interwoven with the traditions and heritage that have made this, your country, the greatest on the face of the earth. May the fine attitudes and spirit of Jones School students guide this country and the universe. Dr. Wilkerson, superintendent Dr. Ted Wilkerson Superintendent B.S. Degree, M.S. Degree, and Ed.D. There is that continual heartache— But Barbee is living! Not dead! It is nice to be a chosen subject— A part of God’s Master Plan ; And as the music of Heaven played sweetly God took her by the hand. HE led her gently toward Heaven Away from all earthly strife; Barbee’s soul was filled with the wondrous gift . Of eternal life. We’ll miss you, Barbee, our classmate As we stand by your marker of stone, We know that God loved you dearly— When HE whispered: “Barbee, Come Home.” Evelyn M. More than anything else we have developed a burning Pride in our team, school, and in each other. The 1969 edition of the Longhorns had only 4 seniors, Dan Case, Donnie Chase, Steve Manwell, and Steve Dilbcck. All 4 seniors did an outstanding job providing leadership as Dan Case and Don Chase were elected co-captains. Dan Case, 6’4” and 230 lbs. senior made the All-District, All-Conference, and All-State for the 1969 sea- son. Don Chase and Rick Williams were placed on the All-District team. The most underrated player on our team was Steve Manwell, weighing only 130 lbs., did an out- standing job blocking players 50 to 80 lbs. heavier. Steve Dilbeck developed into a real fine ball player, and we will miss his speed next year. HOOK-UM HORNS L. Denely Looks like a winner to me. I wonder what they are looking for? Look gang, it’s a dog pile. Sometimes it’s easy to become disgusted with yourself. We think Dan Case and Donnie Chase did a good job as captains this year.
