W v--V-.. .5 lf- Q ff, VICA Club There is a vocation for every interest. With no age limit, Handicapped? .loin the force of the working world. There is training for you through Vocation Technical Programs. Vocational education provides more return for dollar invested than any other form of education. This return is good for the economy as well as the student. It often takes the handicapped person off the welfare roll and places him on the tax roll. Vocational education has grown rapidly to provide more work-relevant education to more students to progress at their own pace. This is especially true of programs geared to training the handicapped. More career information is needed for the public as well as for high school students, what a career entails, the kind of life it offers, the preparation and skills needed to enter the field, and projected employment opportunities. Providing such career information is iust one of the purposes of the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, VICA, a national organization for secondary, and post secondary students enrolled in Vocational programs. Understanding the functions of labor and management organizations, promoting high standards in work ethics, craftmanship, scholarship, safety, and helping stu- dents to develop leadership qualities through civic, educational and vocational activities are among the goals of VICA. Competitive activ- ites in trade skills, public speaking, job interviewing, and parliamentary procedure are also vital aspects ot VICA activities. Plans are underway by the JCJC VICA Chapter to begin intercollegiate competition with other junior colleges ot our area, preparing for State compe- tition in May. VlCA members of JCJC are proud of their Vocational training preparing them for leadership in the world of work. 206
