Those who attended were awestruck by the sheer beauty of the event and opening of the always welcome Yuletide. The pomp and pageantry, color and magniiicanoe ofthe Madrigal Feast made it an occasion to remember. The Parish House was decorated as a Medieval English castle at Christmas time. Heraldic banners floated from the castle walls. Dinner was served amid feasting and merry making, Tables were aglow with red Christmas trappings and a myriad ot red candies. The birth of Christ was celebrated by the lords and their ladies, seneschals, friars, wandering minstrels and caroi singers in the Great i-laiiot the Manor. The feast was characterized by the processional of the ford of the manor and his entourage, the music of the brass quartet and harpsia chord, the Renaissance songs and dances of the Chamber Singers, the boar's head, the Wassail Bowl, and the Fiaming Pudding. g 198 Michael Kim Hawkins and Randy Martin
