Lair Staff The college annual, THE LAIR, is published during the year and is issued during the last month of school. The yearbook features the out- standing work and activities of the student body for the entire year. All students are expected to have a picture in the yearbook. Lair Staff at lts Best The Lair sponsored the Jones County Junior College 1978 Beauty Pageant featuring 27 girls. From this group the students cast their votes for three girls. This gave the Student Council the top twelve girls who are pictured in our features section. The large crowd attending the pageant was enteretainecl by Southern Exposure, the song and dance team from USM. Jamie McAlpin, Editor of the Lair, was moderator of the pageant. From the Top Twelve girls, judges selected Jencie Moss as Most Beautiful and four other girls as runners-up. The Lair presented all the girls with a gold pendant and roses were given to the girls chosen by thejudges. Also during quarter break, Mrs. Colleen Ford and Miss Lona Bassett, with four students on the Lair staff, Jamie McAlpin, Lair Editor, Teresa Boleware, Fred Britton, and Neil Flussell traveled to Dallas as guests of Taylor Publishing Co., who prints the JCJC yearbook. The group stayed at the Registry which is in the heart of Dallas. A representative of the Public Fielations Dept. conducted a tour of the plant tracing all the different steps and phases that go into the making and printing of a yearbook from the time the pictures and layout pages arrive at the plant until they are a finished page in the book and the book is sewn together. The delicate and expensive computerized machines, many of which were set apart by enclosed glass to protect them from moisture and dust, were fascinating to see. Working with the Art Director, the Lair staff designed the cover for the i978 Lair, and the group was entertained at several elegant and quaint restaurants. One day was spent shopping and sightseeing also.
