JCJC Golf Team 77 Tommy Roberts, Jim White, Thomas Butler, Coach Bush, Smokey Nloss, Kenneth Ward. The golf team participated in about six regular season matches during the year. They came out second to Meridian in all of these matches. The team tied for third place in the State Tourna- ment.

Smith, and J, Yelverton. : SOUTH MISSISSIPPI WINNERS Harry Smith, who threw the shot and discus for Jones, won in meets prior to the State Meet along with half miler, Neil Smith and mile man, Gary Herring. To qualify for the State Meet participants had to finish not less than third at the South State Meet. State qualifiers from Jones were: Harry Smith, who was the South State champion in both the shotput and discus competitiong Neil Smith, the South State champion in the eighty-eight yard rung Gary Her- ring, South State Champion inthe mile, and high jumper, Arsene Benoit, who finished third at the South State Meet with a jump of six feet.

Invitation to Pasadena On Tuesday, November 22, officials formally extended the bid to the Junior Rose Bowl to the Jones Bobcats. The Bobcats readily accepted and the Board President gave the official yes Acceptance speeches were made by Dr. Tisdale and Coach Cooley. The Bobcats had almost given up hope for the chance to go after the loss of the state championship game. According to Glenn Davis, Bose Bowl Official, he didn't lose his respect for Jones because they lost while going for two points and victory rather than one point and a tie.
