FOI2El1l0I2D Sometrmes you may open the covers of thrs edrtron of the Radronran some trme rn the far future when the world rs at peace agarn and thrs badly torn earth rs rrghted on 1ts axrs and rts wounds are healed and you may be taken rn fancy back to the school year of 1942 43 You may see the ole Admrnrstratron Burldrng wrth the rdle students about the doors and corrrdors you may have another prcture of Ole Glory as she waved proudly rn the arr and adorned the campus so rmpres srvely you may see the one trme C P T boys rn formatron and hear curt com mands you may see the dear lrttle frsh pool wrth rts constant crrcle of frrends and youll probably wrtness the plantrng of an unusual frsh or two rn rts peaceful wa ters you may hear musrcal sounds from somewhere on the second floor and a plane may make rts way slowly above the burldrngs and you may see grrls and boys alrke dorng calrsthenrcs gettrng ready for a brg part rn the wrnnrng of peace And dear reader you wrll have agarn the prcture of a year of war at J C J C You wrll have a farrly vrsrble prcture of the cornbrnatron of the usual peace and the natural trend of thrngs wrth the added elements of war We are but fortunate chrldren of war we ve been granted even so much peace and securrty whrle great rdeals upon whrch thrs Amerrca was founded were rm perrled Albert we were preparrng for a part rn the great drama of submrssron to domrnatron and the mrghty struggle for Justrce and equalrty for all men alrke When we began the school year we volunteered for servrces rn the varrous war commrt tees whrch the admrnrstratrve offrcers establrshed Those commrtters were set up wrth regard to Consumer Interest Patrrotrsm rn Assembly and Club Programs the Sale of War Bonds and Stamps Arr Rards and Frre Drrlls Communrty Program and Sal vage Conservatron Health Servrce and Frrst Ard Mrlrtary Moral Contact wrth For mer Students rn Servrce and Publrc Relatrons By servrng rn them we realrzed some of the tragedres of war and wanted eagerly to do our part on the home front We gettrng ready but all the whrle we knew that on Guadalcanal the Solomons rn Tu msra and on many other battlefronts our brothers and srsters were grvrng rn and at the same trme shellrng out to the enemres We kept rt to ourselves but we knew that the brg thrngs were berng done and that the vxay to peace was berng paved by therr blood sweat and tears None of us went untouched We felt the war and each per sonalrty was altered rn some small degree and the school rn turn reflected the sentrment whrch we felt We were young and gay? Yes But war leaves rts rmpressron on every mrnd and we were tryrng to fortrfy ourselves for the tragrc thrngs rt would brrng Perhaps we were fearful of those rrotrces Mrssrng or Krlled rn Actron perhaps we felt even more than we really mrrror ed rn our actrons So thrs has been a year of war Even though some of those who began the race wrth us have not been so fortunate as we thrs school term has been an exceptronal one The gods have been generous we are grateful And yes thrs yearbook rs an cxceptron It vwrll reflect somcthrng of the war no doubt and rt rs rn your hands as an accomplrshment only after much uncertarn ty whrch the trrnes have brought The staff of thrs edrtron seeks but one reward That rs to know that between these covers and upon these pages you wrll frnd recorded an hrstorrcal year when the student unron you showed meant almost everythrng that those precrous mo ments at J C J C wrll be preserved for you and for your happy recollectron rn years to come that the prcture we parnt of Alma Mater wrll always beckon you home and frrrally, to know that the lrttle battles we ve fought on the campus call mg them patrrotrc duty wrll speed that day of vrctory when the lrghts go on agarn . , - ' , , ' ' Q Q . 5 . r 1 ' ' .
