US FOR FUTURE VOCATIONS C. Taglienti, E. Sales MARY ANN ULBRICH, D.C. In the past a young girl was taught the arts of cooking, sewing, and managing a home by her mother. Today it is the job of the school ' s Home Economics Department to teach girls these skills. The aims of this department are to prepare our future wives and mothers to meet the problems of running a home successfully, and to interest some of them in Home Economics as a possible career. Just put in a safety pin and leave me alone. ' The Industrial Arts courses given at Jonathan Dayton cover a wide variety of topics, not only giving the student a basic of the arts of working with wood or metal, but also mechanical drawing, printing, and the graphic arts. Skills that are conveyed to the students as part of these courses assist not only on the job, but also in the home, where a great deal of expense can be saved by the skilled work- er in wood.
