Superintendent Dr. Warren M. Davis Superintendent of Schools • As you leave your high school days behind you and assume your rightful place in the world of young adults, you meet the greatest challenges ever to face any generation of Americans. The problems of the sixties will try the mettle of every person in our land, but the heaviest burden of responsibility will be borne by the educated. We are well into an era of phenomenal change which has come about largely through the influence of mass learning. The jungle has given way to the university. To meet the challenges of the sixties, we in our nation must learn and never cease to learn. As the class of 1961, graduating from a fine high school in an economically and culturally favored area, you have every opportunity to write your name in history at least as large as did that illustrious pioneer for whom your school was named. It is your future, but it is also the world ' s future. May God be with you as you fashion it.
