Seniors and Juniors must have an average of 3. 00 to be eligible. However, scholarship alone is no guarantee that a student will be selected. Dale Sanford, a member of the Jona- than Alder Chapter of Future Farmers of America, individually placed second in the annual Madison County Soil Judging Contest held at Madison South School. Dale received 245 out of a possible 300 points. Jonathan Alder Chapter of Future Farmers of America placed second in the county soil judging contest. Madison South was first and London was third. Pictured above is Carl Mitchell who took the top honors at the Jonathan Alder 100 Bushel Corn Club banquet held De- cember 8, with 139. 7 bushels per acre yield of corn for 1960. The club was sponsored by the Farmers National Bank of Plain City and the Virginia Carolina Chemical Corporation of Cincinnati, Ohio. Carl won a permanent trophy, plus a year's possession of a rotating trophy, for placing first. The team was composed mainly of freshmen and sophomores. The pitcher. Woody Delong, was the most outstanding play- er for the season and promises to lead the team toward more victories next spring. Coach Dover along with his team is looking forward to a more suc- cessful season in 1962.
