One of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon high school Juniors and Seniors is membership in the National Honor Society. Each year, members of the Junior and Senior classes, who have maintained a cumu- lative scholastic average of 3. 00 or better, are rated by the faculty on the basis of Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. Only 10% of the Junior Class and 15% of the Senior Class may be elected during any school year. Those students who meet the requirements are initiated into the society during an impressive tapping cere- mony. This year members of the society selected officers to carry out a money-making project. The money will be used to purchase a plaque on which the names of past and present members will be engraved. NEW MEMBERS, from left to right: Barbara Howsman, Marsha Webber, Barbara Blanton, Betty Hostetler, Velma May, Dale Sanford, Sharon Markey, Donna Lowry. •MMMHi QUILL AND SCROLL Quill and Scroll, International Honorary Society for High School Journalists, is the only international honorary society for high school students. To be eligible for membership in Quill and Scroll one must be of junior ranking, be in the upper third of his class, have a B average in English, and be approved by Miss Elizabeth Barto and the executive secretary of the society. This year's journalism class consisted of seven Quill and Scroll members who were installed last spring and four new journalism students.
