VVorking under these difficult condi- tions, Coach Garrett strove for perfection. Compiling an over-all record of 3-4, the freshmen football team highlighted the season with an unquestionable win over Providence by a score of 42-12. Cheerleaders, Work helps school spirit increase l968-69 proved to he another year of stu- dent support of athletic events. One of the nia- jor reasons of this increase in school spirit was the improvement of the cheerleading squads, All of Wests cheerleaders attended a cheer- leading clinic at Illinois State University for two weeks. They learned new cheers and tech- niques in cheerleading to increase interest. According to their supervisor Nliss Linda Ringo, iiBoth squads have been willing to work hour after hour to improve. Another important fact was that the senior and sophomore squads worked together, not individuals, They all have more precise movements and more pepfi This unification of efforts and professional schooling have made the cheerleading squads an important factor in improved school spirit.
