Manual and electric machines raced to speeds of sixty words per minute under students, steady fingers. Stenography classes taught their own for- eign language to girls interested in secretarial courses. Mastery of initial brief forms proved essential for a foundation in the course. Many future bookkeepers learned the funda- mentals of compiling figures accurately and orderly in business education courses. Home economic courses divulged secrets on the skills of good housekeeping. After pre- paring dinners, girls learned proper etiquette in hosting meals. Guest lists often included the administration and various secretaries. Girls created new outfits of original designs on Pfaff and Singer sewing machines.
