Authenticity stimulates student scientists Mr. Donald Tolen, a former Peace Corps volunteer, aided earth science and world geo- graphy classes by relating his experiences. Practical applications came from his per- sonal stories, films brought reality to the subjects of discussion and enlightened the students of facts. Biology students explored the world of the minute paramecium and compared its physiology and anatomy to the human beings'. Basic experiments which concerned the usage of hormones, chicken birth, and dissection remained although financial restrictions cut many labs. Physics classes viewed the forces of nature through a different perspective. Mr. Donald Hopkins and Mr. Donald Roderick approached students with various demonstra- tions to simplify the understanding of mass and motion. Students learned basic concepts through such apparatus as mirrors, scales, and stroboscopes. Mrs. janet McCarthy and Mr. Arthur Forte revised techniques in chemistry courses to comply with shortened periods.
