Efftlqiirvzisiiz ' XYest's faculty tug-of-xxai' team struggled against the student tiig-of-war team 111 Ll losing battle at the pep assembly' on Ft-lnriiary 21. Wests wrestling team took first place at the Rich Rocket VlllJllI'IliiIHCI11, Alarrett Hubbard, Ron Broun, and Tom McKt-on presented the trophy to Mr. Yanko. Student Life Assemblies, sideburns, and pigtails abundant in 68-69 New fads and ideas kept Joliet Westls 1968-69 student body alive and unique. Saddle shoes, sideburns, sweater-vests, and pigtails were accepted to be Uthe thing. Created through the interests and sugges- tions of the faculty and students, 15 assemblies were held, covering various subjects ranging from sports to music to a film tour of Spain presented by Mr. Theodore R. Bumiller. All school assemblies were required at- tendance. Eight pep assemblies displayed Tiger Pridefl the 1968-69 school theme, as did the enthusiasm of the entire school bodv. Long heavy sideburns, worn by many male students at West, gave Rick Kerr his popular nickname 'iMange. Noralie Larson gives herself the uncw lookl' with the help of a rubber band and a silk scarf,

ACAD MILES' School was the institution of learn- ing for Joliet West students. Homework, library usage, and reading achieved the creation of new ideals and thoughts. Teachers helped students keep on the right track and also helped them to understand their courses: Often stu- dents helped each other when time be- came short and problems arose. Short- ened school hours and fewer teachers were new factors that students and ad- ministrators had to cope with in nine- teen sixty nine.
