GAA dance, Autumn Fair, promotes carnival theme VVith the main attractions of a kissing hooth, merry-go-round, and ferris wheel, the fiftii annual girl-ask-boy dance, Autumn Fair, was presented hy the CIA.-X. Setting a carnival mood, the dance featured many attractions of a county fair ranging from clowns with halloons to re- freshments of popcorn and pink lemonade. Held in the girls' gym 011 Novemher 22, 1968, the dance featured the music of Buddy Everetts Orchestra. This was the first time GAA hosted their dance in the gym, which they decorated a merry-go-round. Autumn Fair ended a week of fund-raising activities sponsored hy CAA, which included the sale of slave tags. During the week it was 1101 unusual to see a girl wearing one of these tags and carrying an enormous stuck of hooks or opening a door for a hoy. Among these groups were, The Pendragon, Rapid Transit, Crystal Tower, El- mo Blatnefs Electrical Cacumbers, and The Hearts of Soul. VVith the new hands came the new fads of dancing in a circle and sitting on the floor. Stu- dents wcre exposed to rock, psychedelic, and soul music because of the variety of bands. Scheduling an after-game dance gave an or- ganization an opportunity to raise money, Per- mission was granted hy the administration for girls to wear slacks to after-game dances for the first time, Student participation was high and after-game dances were numerous on the 68-69 school calendar.
