GAA dance, Autumn Fair, promotes carnival theme VVith the main attractions of a kissing hooth, merry-go-round, and ferris wheel, the fiftii annual girl-ask-boy dance, Autumn Fair, was presented hy the CIA.-X. Setting a carnival mood, the dance featured many attractions of a county fair ranging from clowns with halloons to re- freshments of popcorn and pink lemonade. Held in the girls' gym 011 Novemher 22, 1968, the dance featured the music of Buddy Everetts Orchestra. This was the first time GAA hosted their dance in the gym, which they decorated a merry-go-round. Autumn Fair ended a week of fund-raising activities sponsored hy CAA, which included the sale of slave tags. During the week it was 1101 unusual to see a girl wearing one of these tags and carrying an enormous stuck of hooks or opening a door for a hoy. 1 Remember Mama is presented as fall play After five weeks of rehearsal, the West High drama groups presented I Remember Mama. Written hy john Yan Druten, the play was adap- ted from Kathryn Forhess hook, Mama's Bank Account. Based on a true story, the play con- cemed the prohlems of a Norwegian family in San Francisco around 1900. Miss Wilma Dryden directed the two-act play presented in the auditorium on Xoyeniher 15 and 16. She was assisted hy the student di- rector, Hohert Auld. One of the difficulties the cast encountered was learning to speak with a Norwegian accent. Judy Rodhy portrayed Mama, around whom the story was centered, while Arnold Tracy played Papa. Filling the parts of their children were Kathy Kirby, jan Martinson, Hedy Pufeles, and Larry Reno.
