So the year of behind-the-scenes work came slowly to a close. This type of work was especially important to the students in 1969. With the curtailment of the school day to nine periods, stu- dents had to learn to budget their time to keep up with homework. Study halls were not eliminated altogether but were less congested. Behind-the-scenes work, as in years before, was vital to communication within the school. Student Council Board, in coalition with the Senate, was able to advance much farther during 1969 than the year before. Student government was able to achieve more because it built on the organization left from the year before. Bigger than the improvement of the student government was the responsi- ble attitudes displayed by many students in the HLetter-to-the-Editorn column in Tiger Tales. Ideas were fresh and circulated with an air of understanding emerging. 242
