Student life pulsates Within typical school day at West wi Mo School davs at VVest have been described in many ways bv many students, but never have they been described as normal. VVhile most activities varied with each in- dividual student, all experienced the same steady routine of classes, lunch lines, and study halls. Student life exists behind the scenes at West Students of joliet West found many ways to occupy their time outside of school. Dating gave students a chance to relax, have fun, and tem- porarily forget school pressures. Attending a football game was a common way for students to spend an evening. Some took advantage of fall weather to spend time outdoors. For some students, working at part-time jobs was a way to supplement their income. Students worked for a variety of reasons-to gain independence and experience, to meet new people, and to earn extra spending money. Some jobs were more than just a way to make money. Students who volunteered their time felt that self-satisfaction meant more to them than a paycheck. Some students found that their jobs opened up opportunities to develop special interests or gain background for the careers they would pursue later in life.
