GRADIIAI' 'S' Spirit of '69 was the unifying force of the fifth graduating class of Joliet West. Invaluable behind the scenes, work created the strength of this force. Desire to be the best class at Joliet West demanded work and imagination. Ninety-one honor roll students more than balanced the class's social reputa- tion. This was the largest graduating class in the five year history of the school. Seniors helped, bring about the placement of the victory light on the school building. Five senior classes have been involved with the victory light. 21 W 22

'cn- gf DE President Kevin Manley presided over a weekly Thursday morning during the Joliet West-Lockport West football game. As a second money- meeting. Club members voted in favor of operating the concession stand earning project, plans were madc to sell candy. As a display trainee of the j.C. Penney Company, DE member Pat McReynolds adjusts the wig of a mannequin to complete a window fashion display. DE, OO, and DO pursue on--the-job experience Students interested in marketing and dis- tributing for retail stores took an active part as members of Distributive Education. Profits from the operation of a football concession stand amounted to over 8100. Club members attended a workshop Novem- ber 21 at Joliet East High School. Various fea- tures included speakers on retail sales, a fash- ion show, and shoplifting demonstrators. Office Occupations met every day during period 1 to learn the operation of various office machines. Working at outside jobs in the after- noon enabled members to apply their class training to actual job situations. Club members participated in homecoming activities with their float entry. Their efforts proved successful as the Office Occupations float won fourth place. Diversified Occupation members worked half-days for numerous local businesses. Em- ployers included those in the fields of auto- motives, mechanics, dentistry, and optometry. Organizations 153
