Speech'Club Active in Drama and Debate One of the largest organizations in the school, the Speech Club carried on an eventful schedule. Curtailments did not hinder the club from trying new activities. Debate held up a winning season with the Varsity Debate Team going undefeated for eight meets. Everyday debate practiced the last two periods to polish their dynamic arguments. This able group set about to sponsor a Forensic Radio Day. They sold advertisements, wrote the scripts, interviewed school faculty mem- bers, and had their own talkback program. That day, WJRC turned the station over to the group. Dramatic arts also flourished within the club. Before the holidays, a Christmas play was enacted for the pleasure of the younger set. Cyrano de Bergerac was produced as the dis- trict contest play. Anne Frank entered the lives of many actors and actresses at West. This story of war-stricken Germany was chosen as the Spring production. l SPEECH CLUB OFFICERS-Nancy Ruttle, secretaryg Anita Venzara, parliamen- tariang Connie Rajala, presidentg Dave Hamrin, vice-presidentg Rich Rawlins treasurer.
