Taylor, G. Oliver. Orchestra Merits Superior in IHSA West High's Orchestra stood in the Spot- light of musical concerts and assemblies during the ,66-'67 school year. Featured at the Armi- stice Day and Christmas Assemblies, the or- chestra provided a reverent mood with music. Haunting background music for the Spring Din- ner Dance ushered in the new season. In the contest of the Illinois High School Association, the orchestra merited a superior rating. This orchestra competed against groups from all over the state. Freshman string orchestra undertook ex- tensive training in preparation for concert per- formance in the large orchestra. Five girls who have played together for four years make up the First Ensemble. This ensemble offered pro- grams of popular and classical music for schools, organizations, or special groups. This group also united with the orchestra at con- certs.
