1 l Social Science Offered Course Variety to Students Mr. Settles lends some helpful support to Mike Levin, a student in distress. Mr. Kochevar captivates his World History students with the saga of ancient Rome. 138 Shi Social sciences prepared students for future citizenship responsibilities. American government and problems of democracy gave students an insight into the traditions and pro- cesses of our government. Participants in econ- omics classes received a knowledge of business influences on the citizenry of a nation. World affairs inspected various struggles for world power, such as the rivalry between the free and Communist spheres. Social studies and U.S. History offered a comprehensive review of the American govern- mental structure on the local, state, and national levels. Studies of constitutions and voting procedures and requirements created an awareness of the disciplines and privileges of citizenship. World History introduced semi- nar study. Students examined specific problem areas as they traced the history of civilization and formulated their own conclusions about fallacies and virtues of political and social policies.
