English I and II offered an intro- duction to the field of communication as freshmen sought to interpret ideas portrayed through literature and then apply these ideas to their own writing. Sophomore speech taught students the importance of the spoken word. Junior and Senior English courses concentrated upon literature and expository writing as medi- ums -of conveying a purpose, while journalism students found an outlet for their efforts in Tiger Tales and the Alpha Omega.
