Studio Two Draws West's Talented ,Artists Any interested student who was currently enrolled in an art class or who had successfully completed a course in art was able to join the Art Club of Joliet West, Studio Two. Activities of Studio Two included demonstrations by local artists, trips to the Art Institute of Chicago, a sketching trip to Brookfield Zoo and discussions on the topic of Careers in Art. Studio Two provided addi- tional experiences and opportunities in the field of art beyond those of- fered in the classroom. Miss M. Long served as sponsor of Studio Two with Lynne Minarich serving as president, Bruce Hamilton as vice- ' president, Patti Schultz as treasurer and Karen Kozma as secretary. Miss Long shows Christy Petrinos the finer points of molding a clay head. SEC- OND ROW: Nancy Johnson, Betsy Pohl, Nancy Career Clubs Provided Training for Future Iobs Awareness of the need of train- ing for future careers prompted stu- dents at West High to join these clubs: Future Farmers of America, Future Homemakers of America, Future Teachers' Association, Office Occupations and Distributive Edu- cation. FFA, FHA, and FTA took trips to areas in which their partic- ular career could 'be studied such as FHA's visit to the dairy council, FTA's visits to different colleges and FFA's visit to the Grain and Poultry Show. 0.0. and D.E. were organiza- tions in which students went to school for half of the day and worked at a job the other half. Miss Gibbs and Mr. Kochevar, History Club sponsors, trace the route for a planned History Club trip to historical sites in Will County. History Club Related Scott Baskin, president of History Club,' reads Peggy De Checko's secretarial notes for the next History Club meet- ing. HISTORY CLUB-FRONT ROW: Carol Seeberg, Chris Sprenger, Shirley Forbes, Connie Rajala, Cheryl Palmer, Diana Toberts, Past and Present Emphasizing those activities which are unable to be covered in a regular history class, History Club, also known as The Association, met each third Tuesday of the month at 4:00 in Room 114. Although the club was started only this year, it pro- moted a real interest in the study of history. The entire depart- ment of American history teachers sponsored the organization with Scott Baskin serving as president, Jim Peterson as vice president, Tom Mahoney as treasurer, and Peggy De Checko as secretary. The sponsors and students felt the study of history wais an important asset in determining the course of history to ay.
