Grrrrr,'f says this ferocious West High Tiger mascot as he practices for another pep session where he will inspire the Tigers to beat 'em. Pep Club ignited the Atmosphere with School Spirit Go West Go was the Pep Club's main theme through- out the school year. Pep Club produced more school spirit than any other organization at West. Their only require- ment for membership was that the student go to West High's sports events and cheer. Leading the students in school spirit was Mr. Don Hopkins, the club's sponsor, while Frank Evans, Lynne Minarich and Josh Hershman served the club as officers. Pep Club sponsored buses to away games, selected and trained a tiger mascot, pro- duced numerous pep assem- blies and presented Tiger Fol- lies, a talent show. As a tiger watching over her little cubs, Mr. Hop- kins watches over the activities of Dean Macris, Larry Woldt and Frank Evans as they work on posters for spreading school spirit. 79

West. Jointly work- ing with the sponsor, Mr. Tesdall, the Key Club had a hay ride, after-game dance and a sale of West High pennants. They also sponsored a student reception for Mr. Stallman and club leaders in September. Mem- bership was limited to boys in the upper quarter of their class, with a recommendation of the dean and an approval of the membership committee. Officers this year were Gary Hardy, presidentg Larry Kubinski, vice-president, Richard Olson, secretary, and Emil Petrussa, treasurer.
